Taking Root In The Lord

Being Rooted in God….

Today is Monday.

Now most people of the world, in the Western World, seem to dread Monday, they make fun of Mondays.

But the thing is,

Every day from God is truly a blessing. And that includes Mondays.

Now it is really easy for me to say oh yes every day is a blessing and we should be living our life as such.

But the reality is life can sometimes suck.

Let’s face it our kids can be grumpy, our husbands can be in bad mood.

We work at a job we don’t like.

We are not making the money we want to.

We have family members that bring us down.

I get it.

I have 4 tweens and teenagers with 2 4-year-olds, so my days are challenging. There are many Mondays I don’t want to get out of bed and face them.

But I know this.

I know that my life, my soul is grounded in the LORD.

Each and every day I’m deeply rooted in knowing that I can trust God to make my day easy and in flow.

Now the definition of Root according to the Merriam-Webster dictionary is just as you and I think of…

1a: the usually underground part of a seed plant body that originates usually from the hypocotyl, functions as an organ of absorption, aeration, and food storage or as a means of anchorage and support, and differs from a stem especially in lacking nodes, buds, and leaves

This is the first one that comes up and what we think of roots.

But what I found interesting is that when you scroll down further to #8 it has this definition.

computers: a level of access to a computer system that allows complete access to files on the system and complete control over the system’s functions —usually used before another noun

  • root user
  • root directory

Now I am married to an IT guy so this kind of struck me interesting.

When we think about being rooted in God it is kind of like giving Him complete access to our system.

Now as any 4 year old in 2018 knows you don’t want to give anyone complete and total access to your computer system. We have all kinds of fire walls and passwords to keep a hacker out of lives.

So I really think it is hard to let God in and have total access to our root system.

Because when you open yourself up and let the Holy Spirit pass your firewall it can be painful.

So here are 3 steps to ease into being rooted in God.

ROOTED/GROUNDED IN GOD

Thankfulness

“Let Your roots grow down into him, and let your lives be built on him. Then your faith will grow strong in the truth you were taught and you will overflow with thankfulness.” ~ Colossians 2:7

Now next Monday when you wake up, wouldn’t be nice to wake up and be over flowing with thankfulness?

This is what is like to be rooted in God with true thankfulness.

Now I am sure you may have heard or not but really keeping a Gratitude Journal is really the best way to keep track and become rooted in thankfulness. There is just something about when you write down your thoughts with pen and paper. It really gets down into your soul.

I really try to write down a whole page of things I am thankful for.

And really get past the:

I am Thankfulfor..

God

Thomas

My Children

My Mom…

Which are always my top 4.

I do go into

I am thankful for..

The person who let me over on the freeway today.

The barista at Starbucks

The hard working men and women working on the roads

I am thankful for coffee and chocolate.

There is just something about when you write down your thoughts with pen and paper. It really gets down into your soul. Click To Tweet

You get the picture..

When you start digging down deep for the things that you don’t normally think you are thankful it makes it easier to wake up Monday mornings with a Grateful heart and being truly being rooted in God.

FAITH

Having a true faith in God really helps in getting up on Mondays.

“If indeed you remain grounded and steadfast in the faith are not shifted in anyother way from the hope of the gospel that you heard. This gospel has been proclaimed in all creation under heave, and I, Paul, have become a servant of it.” ~Colossians 1:23 CSB

Living in the Pacifc Northwest I have the pure pleasure of see tall deeply rooted evergreen trees everyday. When looking at how tall they can become. It gets me thinking about how deep their roots must be. How far down do they go? When a tree is deeply grounded in the earth it can grow and grow without limit.

This is how God wants us to live everyday. He wants us to be deeply grounded in our faith and to know where our roots grow. Our roots are frimly planted in His kingdom. We are deeply grounded in the Kingdom of God. And God will take us down deep the further we RISE in His Kingdom.

So the next time you want to bury deep down in the covers and keep the Monday away hoping for Friday, know that the further you want to go down God will lift higher and higher in His Kingdom.

LOVE

Love is All a round us.

“Then Christ will make His home in your hearts as you trust in him. Your roots will grow down into God’s love and keep you strong.” ~ Ephesians 3:17

Love is a strong emotion that is more than a feeling.

Love is an Action.

Nothing can get up on a cold dark Monday morning like love.

My husband gets up every morning to go work so he can provide for our family.

Day in and Day out.

Each week.

Each month

Each year

He has gotten up each Monday Morning because he loves me and his family.

Now he couldn’t do it without the Love of God.

Because God love him and you first so now you can love.

Now as women whom God created has never really been found of mornings but I am finding the older I get the more I am loving mornings.

I heard something from Beth Moore that really stuck me hard.

When saying you love Jesus that you need to be saying…

I love you too.

I think it is so easy to believe that we do love Jesus more than He loves us.

But that is not even close to the truth.

Because God so Loved the earth…

This means you.

He so loved YOU that He gave YOU his only son.

So yes we should be saying Love You Too…

Now when you know that God loved you first. That He created you just like He created the Stars in the Sky and the Sand in the Desert, it makes it easier to get up in the mornings.

Easier to Get up and do something amazing!

Know that God created you to have an awesome amazing life.

Remember Live life full of Passion and Purpose!
